Social Networking Thoughts
During the excellent course with Jon Hickman last week - a fabulous practical session to learn how to navigate around Twitter, Linked In and setting up our own blogs - the course delegates all had a lively discussion about ethics. We highlighted a couple of incidents of bad practice and it became apparent that, as well as being a fabulous tool to improve our profiles, there could be some significant pitfalls - especially in relation to privacy / data protection. Following our professional Code of Ethics must be adhered to at all times when portraying ourselves in the public arena. Hot off the press .... to address the issues as raised last week our speaker for 30 September - Working Independently Within the Law - Howard Thomas will be addressing these ethical dilemas and our responsibilities under the Data Protection Act and the Laws around privacy.
